By car the O.R. International Airport is approximately 20 minutes away from Johannesburg's eastern suburbs, and approximately 45 minutes from Sandton and Rosebank. Please be aware that these travel times may be extensively extended during peak traffic hours. The airport itself is easily negotiated, with Terminal A catering for international arrivals and departures and Terminal B catering for domestic flights.
A multi-storey parking garage is located opposite Terminal B. Here travellers will find an entire floor dedicated to car rental agencies. These all have information kiosks on the lower level of Terminal B and cars are collected from the parking garage. Another level is dedicated to buses and coaches. A terminal for metered taxis and minibus shuttles is located to the right of this parking garage. These may be booked at the baggage claim area of the airport and fares may be purchased to destinations in Johannesburg or further afield. The terminus is located at the international arrivals door where you hand your ticket to the next taxi or shuttle in the queue, avoiding haggling over prices.
Metered taxis, recognised by the yellow identification lights on their roofs, are available at the airport. While more expensive than the taxis and shuttles, this is arguably the fastest mode of transportation and will deliver you to the front door of your destination.
Alternatively, enquire about in-house transfer services from your accommodation provider.
The Lanseria International Airport offers the same services available from the O.R. Tambo International Airport, with a range of transportation options available to travellers. Alternatively, enquire about in-house transfer services from your accommodation provider.
