Sandton City takes its place amongst the largest shopping centres in Africa. In fact, along with Nelson Mandela Square, the centre is one of the largest in the southern hemisphere. Previously known as Sandton Square, the iconic Nelson Mandela Square, home to a six metre bronze statue of this much loved international figure, lies within the heart of Sandton City.
Sandton - and the surrounding suburbs - is a Mecca for shopping. Exclusive boutiques and mainstream chain stores stand side by side, while the shopping district also offers cinemas, coffee shops, restaurants and nightclubs.
Known as "Africa's richest square mile", Sandton has become Johannesburg's new financial district and is the city's premier business centre. Sandton is home to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the Sandton Convention Centre - one of the largest convention centres in Africa.
If you are travelling for pleasure, Sandton has a range of activities that will do no less than surprise and delight every member of your family. And if you are travelling for business, Sandton offers a professional environment with every facility at your disposal, and is sure to impress your colleagues and even your most demanding clients.
